PITS is an electronic music record label and artist agency operating in Detroit, Michigan. The concept behind the label is that our Place In Time & Space contribute to our experience of art and music. We believe each person has a creative story to tell about their own experience, and we want to help amplify those stories. We support all artists struggling to be heard in our digitized world, especially those in our community facing oppression for being queer or of color.
The project began as a series of after hours events in the summer of 2016 at the infamous Grenadier Club. With these events, founder John Joseph hoped to emphasize the importance of community in the electronic music underground. He connected with many other artists around the city and found a gap in the ability to publish and market their music, spurning the beginning of the PITS imprint in 2017.
